how does social support help people resist conformity?
Individuals with social support are more likely to resist conformity to group pressure because the ally breaks the groups unanimity & creates an alternate group to belong to
What is Locus of Control (Loc)
A dispositional factor that refers to the extent an individual feels in control of what happens to them & the extent to which they can affect their life.
What does someone with a High external LOC believe?
They believe what ever happens to them is due to luck or fate and that they aren’t in control of their life (Deterministic)
What does someone with a High internal LOC believe?
They believe that they are in control to whatever happens to them
Give an example of High internal & External LOC?
Internal : If they fail an exam they believe it was due to them not putting in the effort
External : If they fail an exam they blame everyone & everything but themselves
Who are more likely to resist conformity & not Obey to authority?
Those with an internal LOC are more likely to resist conforming to group pressure AND resist obeying authority because they believe in their ability to make independent judgements & decisions.
