Conformity
A change in a person’s behaviour or opinions as a result of real or imagined pressure from a person/group of people
Internalisation
Private and public opinion changes
Identification
Private opinion usually remains the same. Conforming to a specific social group/person
Compliance
Only public opinion changes, not the private one
Normative social influence
We feel the need to be accepted therefore it’s the reason why we conform. Results in compliance
Informational social influence
We feel the need to evaluate our ideas and not be wrong therefore, we change what we think in case we are not right. Results in internalisation
