Economic stability
Education access and quality
Health care access and quality
Neighborhood and built environment
Social and community contest
Economic stability
The ability to access resources to meet basic needs such as food, water, shelter
Education access and quality
People with higher levels of education are likely to live longer, healthier lives
Children from low income families, children with disabilities, and those who experience discrimination are more likely to struggle with math and reading, and less likely to graduate
Stress from living conditions in poverty can effect brain development
Health care access and quality
1/10 people don’t have health insurance
People without health insurance are less likely to have a PCP and may not be able to afford health care services and medications
People won’t get recommended screenings because they don’t have PCP (primary care provider)
distance from health care providers is a limiting factor
Neighborhood and built environments
Many people in the US live in neighborhoods with high rates of violence or unsafe water and air
Racial/ethic minorities and people with low incomes are more likely to live in places with these risks
Some jobs also exposed to things like second hand smoke or loud noises harm health
Social and community context
Peoples relationships and interactions with people close to them have major impacts on their health and well being
Children with parents in jail and adolescents who are bullied often don’t get support from loved ones and others
