What is reciprocal determinism
Person and situation always interact in determining behavior
Ex: a baby influences the parents (crying,cuddliness, etc) and is influenced by them
3 kinds of person environment interactions
Reactive, proactive, evocative
What is reactive environment interactions
Appraisal
Our constructs or schemes once established organize and filter experience and thus influence behavior
What is proactive environment interaction
Selection/ choice of environment
We select or create our own environment ls
What is evocative environment interaction
Evoke reaction from others
We evoke or elicit different reactions from others and these reactions serve as reinforcements or punishments for the individual
What are expectancies
Beliefs about “if then”then connections
What are beliefs
Are specific to domains and situations
Wiener model
Internal- stable:traits ability; variable/ unstable effort
External- stable: task difficulty; variable/unstable: luck, chance
What are goals
Guide us in establishing priorities and selecting among situations
What is self-efficacy
Self-perceived ability to cope with specific situations or influences and reach goals
Competencies and skills
What we can actually do vs what we believe we can do
Critical to solve cope with problems of life that in turn builds greater self-efficacy
What are the the actual ideal self discrepancies
Lead to sadness/ dejection
Loss of potential positive outcomes makes us sad

Lead to agitation/anxiety
