when individuals band together and form an organisation to focus their collective power, social change can be the result.

what happens in drawing attention to an issue (1)
- minorities can bring about social change by drawing attention to an isssue, if their views are different to those held by the majority, this creates a conflict they are motivated to reduce
what happens in constincy of position (2)
minorites tend to be more influential when they express thei arguments consistently
deeper processing (3)
the minority creates a conflict between what majority group members currently believe and the position of the minority
– majority thinks more deeply
the augmentation priciple (4)
if minority appears willling to suffer for their views, they are seen as more committed so are taken more seriously
the snowball effect (5)
minority influence initially has a small effct but this spreads more widely and more people consider the issues being promoted, until it reaches a point where it leads to a wide spread social chnage

people have a memroy that change has occurs but dont remember how
what is gradual commitment
making someone agree to do terible things and graduall build it up until you get the person to do exactly what you want
