What is meant by social change?
occurs as a result of minority influence but also as a result of obedience and conformity
what is meant by create attention?
the view of the opposition to the current ideology needs to be expressed otherwise the majority will not recognise it. the majority will seek to reduce this opposition so the minority has to create attention
what is meant by cognitive conflict?
The minority shows the conflict between majority and minority creating social competition
what is meant by consistency?
this is the most important factor to making a group successful and influential. means they are taken more seriously over time
what is the augmentation principle?
when there are risks involved, the minorities views are taken more seriously.
minority are willing to make sacrifices for their cause
what is the snowball effect?
as one person changes from majority to minority, more will follow. the minority group gather momentum and more people join
what is social cryptomnesia?
people remember the change occurred, but have no memory as to how or why

boomerang effect may cause people to change to minority, but those who stay with majority become more driven to go against
