  • impacts are poorer health, higher unemployment and a lack of social mobility for those at the poorest end.

  • Urban renewal has brought investment to areas previously in urban decline. For example Olympic regeneration in Newham has provided social housing, leisure activities and more investment in to education.

Greater London authority created a “equal life chances” for all initiative with some of the more notable successes including

  • Four year affordable home scheme which provides homes for around 250,000 Londoners
  • Increasing the living wage to 9.75 in 2016.
  • Building stronger neighborhoods and improving social and community cohesion by introducing a volunteering scheme.
  • Police are working to tackle hate crime.
