What is the role of the sniper?
The role of the snipers is to provide point accurate direct fire support to the infantry battalion. Each sniper pair consists of a team leader and a number two sniper. Teams have an average endurance of 72hr. Quad 5 days, hex.

Established in 1976, since then deployments on active service have consisted of Somalia, East Timor, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Solomon Islands.
In 1977 sniping trade was restructured to meet operational demands of current infantry battalions, which resulted in an ECN and seperate pay structure being raised for a sniper.
What are the tasks for a sniper?

- Kill Enemy snipers
- Kill enemy personnel
- Destroy or disable enemy equipment including weapon systems and light skinned vehicles
- Provide battlefield information
- Provide battlefield commentary
- Assist in orchestration of direct and indirect offensive support.
What are the qualities and attributes of a sniper?
A solider who is a trained marksman.
