How do you apply a tourniquet?
- Apply tourniquet proximal to the bleeding site.
- Absolute contraindication: Bleeding has stopped.
- If bleeding is not controlled, consider additional tightening or apply a second tourniquet proximal to the first tourniquet.
- Wound packing does not preclude you from placing a tourniquet.

What do we use a traction splint for?
On any patient with an isolated midshaft femur fracture.
Contraindications: Pelvic fracture or instability. Knee, Lower Leg, or ankle instability.
What are the indications of a Cervical Collar?
Indications: Any patient with potential for spinal injury
A. Midline C-spine tenderness
B. Focal neurologic deficit
C. Altered Mental Status
D. Evidence of drug/alcohol intoxication
E. Any painful, distracting injuries
What are the contraindications of Cervical Collar?
A. Penetrating trauma to the head and/or neck and no evidence of spinal injury.
B. Injuries where placement of the collar might compromise patient assessment, airway management, ventilation, and/or hemorrhage control.
C. Patients in cardiac arrest.
Dose of acetylic acid (Aspirin)?
324mg, 81mg chewable tablets x 4
What is the dose of Oral Glucose?
15g if patient can protect their airway.
Up to 15g for pediatrics.
What is the dose of Narcan?
2-4mg IN, repeatable up to 10mg
What is the dose of Nitroglycerin?
0.4mg SL, repeat twice every 5 minutes.
Contraindications: Systolic BP less than 100. Taken ED meds in past 48 hours.
What is the dose of Oxymetazoline (Afrin)?
2 sprays to each nostril.
What is the dose of Phenylephrine (Neo-Synephrine)?
2 sprays to each nostril
