A smart material is a material that exhibits a physical change in response to some external stimuli

what are a few examples of smart materials
A
Shape memory alloy (SMA) - they can remember their shape when heated. An example of this is nickel titanium which contracts when heated.
Photochromic pigments - they change their properties when exposed to uv light. An example of what this is used for is glasses
