FTP
File transfer protocol
Used for the transfer of computer files between a client and server on a computer network.
HTTP
Hypertext transfer protocol
Transfers text, pictures and other data from the server to a client computer, which uses a web browser to view datas.
ICMP
Internet Control Message Protocol
Used by network devices including routers error indicating that a requested service is not available or host or router could not be reached.
DHCP
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
Automatically assign unique IP addresses to devices on a network, saving time and risk of conflicts.
Operates on client server model.
Leases IP addresses to clients for specific period of time, after which Client must renew the lease or obtain a new IP address.
Can be used in small home as well as large entreprise.
DNS
Domain Name System
Allows mapping of human readable domain names to IP addresses that computers use to communicate with each other over internet.
Proxy Server
An intermediate server that acts as a mediator between client device and the internet.
Allows client device to access to website without revealing its own IP address or location.
Also provides caching, filtering and security.
WEB SCRAPER
Is to extract data.
Examples: Data mining, Evidence gathering, Archiving
ISP
Internet Service Provider
Is an organization that provides services for accessing, using and participating in the internet.
TLS
Transport Layer Security
Provides end to end communication security over networks and is widely used for internet communications and online transactions.

It is number of bytes the body of the request is.

It is a document with correct syntax.
HTTPs
used to protect sensitive information such as passwords, credit card numbers, and other personal data.

Are simpler but their performance decreases when there is heavy load.
Ping
Uses ICMP,a simple error report Protocol to enable computers to report routing errors.
Web service
Enable communication and exchange of data between different applications or platforms over Internet.

It is well formed and conforms to its Document Type Definition (DTD)
SOAP
Simple Object Accesss Protocol
XML based messaging protocol for exchanging information among computers.
It uses standard HTTP request/response model.
Internet Protocol
IP uses set of rules to send and receive messages at internet address level.
WWW
a system of interconnected hypertext documents and resources that are accessed through the Internet using HTTP and HTTPs.
Is collection of information and resources that can be accessed and navigated using web browers over internet.
WEB PORTAL
Allows access to diverse information from the web in a unified way.
EX: yahoo, MSM
Often show features like news, weather, stock quotes.
