Small Intestine Channel Flashcards
Describe the internal pathway of the Small Intestine Channel
Branches from the supraclavicular fossa, enters the body, connects with the Heart (insects with CV-17), follows the sides of the esophagus, passes through the diaphragm, goes to the S.I.
A second branch descend to the St-39 (lower He-Sea of the SI)
What organs does the SI enter? (3)
heart, stomach, small intestine
What tissues are associated with the SI regular channel? (6)
- stomach
- esophagus
- diaphragm
- ears
- eyes
- inner/outer canthi
Where does the S.I. channel bifurcate?
supraclavicular fossa
What are the dominate disorders of the S.I. Regular Channel?
disorders of Ye (body fluids)
What is the physiological functions of the S.I. Regular Channel? (6)
- Distribute Qi to the face and head, and normalize the function of the ears and eyes
- Distribute and regulate Qi along the channel pathway
- Distribute Qi to the surface and strengthen the defensive functions of the body
- Regulate the body fluids (Ye)
- Regulate the function of the intestines and promote the absorption of fluids and nutrients (St-39)
- Regulate the Qi of the Lower Jiao
Where does the S.I. Regular Channel originate?
ulnar side of the small finger (SI-1)
What are the 4 major channel disorders of the Ye (body fluids) and the S.I. Regular Channel?
- Head, face, sense organs: swelling/pain of the mandible and cheek including TMJ, deafness, tinnitus, mumps, toothache, swollen lymph glands, sore throat (sides), red/painful eyes/canthi, yellow sclera, xs lacrimation, mouth, tongue sores
- Exterior Syndrome: aversion to cold, fever, sweating/absence of sweating, H/A general aches
- Channel Obstruction: stiffness/pain along channel
- Heat Syndrome: febrile disease, fever, night sweats
Where does the S.I. Luo channel separate from the Regular Channel and what is its pathway?
SI-7 to connect with Heart Reg Channel, travels to medial condyle of humerus then to shoulder where it distributes -
NETWORK COVERS WHOLE SHOULDER AREA
What are the deficiency S/S of the S.I. Luo Channel?
flat warts
What are the XS S/S of the S.I. Yup Channel
instability/weakness of joints, weakness/paralysis of elbow/arm
How are Fu organ disorders generally treated?
by their lower He-Sea pts
Where does the S.I. Divergent Channel separate?
shoulder (SI-10)
Where does the S.I. Divergent Channel enter the body cavity?
Axillary fossa (Ht-1)
What organs does the S.I. Divergent channel connect with?
Heart, Small Intestine
