Heart Channel Flashcards
Entry Point and Exit Point of Heart Channel
Entry: Ht-1
Exit: Ht-9
What organs does the Heart Regular Channel enter?
Small Intestine, Heart, Lung
Where does the Heart Divergent Channel separate from the Regular Channel?
axillary fossa
Heart Divergent Channel doesn’t connect to the S. Intestine Regular Channel. Where does is converge with the SI Regular Channel?
inner canthus
Where does Qi knot on the Heart TM Channel?
wrist (pisiform), medial elbow, axillary fossa, chest, breast, umbilicus
Heart Luo Xu (deficiency) Symptoms
aphasia, disorders of vocal chords
Heart Luo Shi (XS) Symptoms
distention/fullness in the chest and diaphragm
Physiology of the Heart Channel (4)
- Circulate Qi and Blood, nourish the heart, lungs, and eyes
- Regulate nervous system, calm the mind, stabilize the emotions
- Regulate heat in the body
- Distribute Qi and Blood to the areas covered by the Heart Channel
(Navigating the Channels)
Where does the Heart Divergent Channel enter the body?
chest
Where does the Heart Divergent Channel emerge?
the face
Where does the Heart Divergent Channel converge?
Inner Canthus
With what does the Heart Divergent Channel connect?
Heart, Throat, Inner Canthus
With what does the Heart Luo Channel connect?
Heart, Pericardium, Root of Tongue, Eyes, S.I. Channel
Describe the pathway of the Heart Luo Channel
Separates at Ht-5 and connects to the S. Intestine Channel. Follows the Ht Regular Channel until it reaches the Heart. Branches off to connect with the root of the tongue then travels to connect to the eye system
What is the Luo point of the Heart Channel?
Ht-5
Where does the internal pathway of the Heart Channel begin?
at the heart
Where does the external pathway of the Heart Channel begin?
at the axillary fossa (Ht-1)
With what tissues does the Heart Channel connect?
esophagus, eyes
What are the pathologies of the Heart Channel
- Channel Obstruction
- Heat Syndrome
- Eye Disorders
What is the major pathology of the Heart channel?
Bi Jue Syndrome (abnormality of the arm)
What is the symptomatology of Heart Channel Obstruction?
pain, swelling, hot or cold sensation on the medial aspect of the arm, palm hypochondriac region, scapula, axillary fossa, chest, upper back
What is the symptomatology of Heart Channel Heat Syndrome?
heat sensation of the body, hot flashes, hight sweating, red face, thirst with desire to drink, dry throat
What is the symptomatology of the Heart Channel Eye Disorders?
redness, swelling of the eyes (esp. inner canthus), yellow sclera
What are the two major pathological categories of Heart TM Channel pathology?
- stiffness, pulling spasm, pain along Ht TM Channel
2. internal cramping near Heart area (can be from engine-like disorders)
What does the Heart Divergent Channel treat?
Mainly: heart and chest disorders
Also b/c connection to throat: throat and vocal cord disorders
