Ethical, moral and cultural issues
How is technology effecting communities?
It can effect local businesses, which can make some things more difficult to do for some people (like the elderly)
What is automated decision making?
Computers making decisions and taking actions based on a set of predefined rules and parameters without any human involvement
How is the stock-market effected by automatic decision making?
It allows for automatic trading, meaning computers can follow algorithms to check prices and compare values to make effective trades
How is automatic decision making effective job hiring?
Sometimes computers are the ones to decide if someone should be hired or not, which could be very unfair
How does the 2018 Data Protection Act fix mistakes caused by computers hiring people
It was made illegal to profile people when hiring, to ensure all people have a chance to be hiredd
What are the two types of AI and their purposes?
Applied/Weak/Narrow AI:
-Designed for specific tasks like image recognition
Generalised AI:
-Can evolve and perform a variety of attacks
What is a robot?
A machine that carries out instructions by following a set of programmed rules
What is internet censorship?
The deliberate supression of internet materials in terms of what can be published
What is Big Data?
Extremely large data sets which can be analysed to reveal patterns, trends and associations in human behaviour and interactions
What is data mining?
Analysing large sets of data to find anomalies, patterns and correlations, making it possible to predict outcomes
What are the issues with the use of personal data?
Privacy, Ownership, Consent, Misuse and Data Protection
What ways can digital content be protected?
Using copyrights, patents, trademarks and licensing
What legislation can be used to help against software piracy?
-Copyright Design and Patents Act
-Computer Misuse Act
How does culture effect websites?
The layout of websites can be different depending on languages, as some are read in different ways (such as backwards)
Some colours also have different meanings in other cultures
