(dip of plane greater than friction angle of plane)

A
where the overburden of soil waste rock or heavily fractured rock with no idenifiable structure or pattern fails. This can be in soil slopes, waste dumps and stockpiles.

failing when a wedge forms from at least two defects strike across the slope crest
