What is succession planning?
Succession planning is the process of identifying promising and key
potential employees, assessing and improving their capacity and
abilities and preparing them for executive positions which are key to
sustainability of organizations

What does the competency model entail?
1.The person must help the organization to effectively handle its goals
and purpose for its very existence. The person must also be able to help
everyone in the organisation to play a part to bring about results. He or
she must supply the inspiration for units within the organization.
2.The potential person must make the organization run quickly in terms
of achieving its goals
3.He or she must compel results. This means that the organization can
rely on the person in helping them achieve their goals. However, she
must also be motivated for effective outcomes.
4.The person must have a team the drive to succeed with others and no
team member is being left out, which means he or she must ensure
participation by each team member.
5.Someone who encourages others to give out their best output which
in turn helps the organization achieve its goals.
6.Someone who is able to increase the confidence and status of others.
It makes each and every person give out their best and make them feel
needed in achieving organizational goals.
7.He or she must handle all classes of people no matter their race, age,
nationality, personality, gender, culture. This brings about equal
treatment because it prevents discrimination and partiality and offers
opportunity for all
