SLGs Flashcards
The midpoint formula
M= x2 plus x1 over 2 , y1 plus y2 over 2
The distance formula
d= root x2 minus x1 squared plus y2 minus y1 squared
The gradient formula
m= y2-y1/x2-x1
Gradient given an angle at the x axis
m=tan♎️
Gradient intercept form
y= mx + b
General form
ax+by+c=0
Where a,b,c are constants and a>0
Two point formula
y-y1/x-x1=y2-y1/x2-x1
Point gradient formula
y-y1=m(x-x1)
Parallel lines
m1=m2
Perpendicular lines
m1m2=-1
Perpendicular distance
Dp= the absolute value of ax1+by1+c/ root a squared + b squared
Acute angle between two lines
Tan♎️= the absolute value of (m1-m2/1+m1m2)
Ratios
If p divides an interval between (x1,y2) and (x2,y2) in the ratio m:n
x=nx2+nx1/m+n y=ny2+ny1/m+n
For external ratios make either m or n negative ie. -m:n or m:-n
