Manifest content
Actual content and storyline of a dream
Latent content
Hidden meaning of a dream
Activation-synthesis theory
states that dreams form as a result of our brain attempting to make sense of neural activity. Create a virtual reality containing useful information for reality.
Lucid dream
When certain aspects of wakefulness are taken into a dream. Person is aware and can exert control of their dream.
Zeitgebers

EEG

EOG

EMG

Percentage that experiences sleep disorders
30-50%
Parasomnias

REM sleep behaviour disorder
when the paralysis typical of REM sleep does not occur. Can be linked to neurodegenerative diseases.

Obstructive sleep apnoea

CPAP machine
Continuous positive airway pressure
