What is informal manumission
The informal freeing of a slave which avoided tax and the slave did not gain full freedom as the master could take them back at any point
What is formal manumission
The formal freeing of a slave which was taxed but the slave got full freedom. The slave could vote, marry, and carry on a trade. They also got the masters name
