Middle Passage
The journey of slaves from the west coast of Africa to the Americas. Slaves were chained up and gathered in small spaces and were in extreme conditions of sanitation and diet. Many of them lost their lives along the way. The ill were also thrown into the sea and the bad were punished or whipped to death. The slaves were treated badly in the plantations as well.
Olaudah Equiano
A former slave who got out of slavery by paying for his freedom. One of the most important abolitionists.
