slab boys - social division Flashcards
alan shares how much he is being paid. By his reaction Phil reveals how little he and the rest of the boys are getting
“That’s more than the three of us put together”
Phil and Spanky both mock those who are higher up than they are during the course of this play. Phil frequently gets Alan’s name wrong on purpose just to wind him up
“Right Eammon”
“Many thanks. Right, Alec”
“No, Albert”
Curry finds Phil’s artwork and assumes it is Alan’s he is amazed. However, when Phil claims it as his, then Curry gets annoyed and frustrated at Phil. this shows that Curry appreciates the art work when he thinks it is Alan’s, but is annoyed to find out that the artwork is really Phil’s. this then shows the social division set in this play.
“So that’s what the loafers been up to. A flyman, eh? Well, we’ll soon see about this…Farrell.”
