Leukoderma
Flat spot or discoloration on the skin such as a freckle or red spot left after a pimple has healed
Macule
Most serious form of skin cancer. Black or dark brown patches on the skin that are uneven or raised.
Malignant melanoma
Benign, curtain filled cyst that can appear just under the epidermis and have no visible opening.
Milia
An inflammatory disorder of the sweat glands. Also known as prickly heat.
Miliaria rubra
A small brownish blemish on the skin.
Mole
Also known as a birthmark.
Nevus
A solid bump Larger than .4 inches that can be easily felt
Nodule
Product that has been designed and proven to not clog the follicles
Noncomedogenic
Lesions that are different color than the color of the skin or raised above the surface of the skin
Primary lesions
Skin disease characterized by red patches covered with white scales usually found on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back
Psoriasis
The hereditary tendency for acne prone skin to retain dead cells in the follicle forming an obstruction

Small blister or sack containing clear fluid lying within or beneath the epidermis

Removes hair from bottom of the follicle. Wax is the most common type

Cotton thread is rolled along surface of the skin
Threading
Can remove shorter hair than wax. Residue dissolves with warm water
Sugaring
Dry skin that does not produce enough sebum to prevent the evaporation of cell moisture
Alipidic skin
Skin that produces too much sebum will have a large pores and appear shiny and greasy
Oily skin
A procedure in which comedones are removed from the follicles by manual manipulation
Extraction
The removal of excess dead cells from the skin surface
Exfoliation
Products used to physically remove dead cell build up

Oil absorbing cleansing masks that have an exfoliating a fact and an astringent effect on oily skin
Clay masks
Mask that contains oils and emollients and humectants. Have a strong moisturizing affect.
cream mask
Used for sensitive or dehydrated skin
Gell masks
Seaweed based and come in a powder form. rubbery when dry
Alginate Mask
Plaster like mask that hardens
Modelage mask
A light continuous stroking movement applied in slow rhythmic manner with the fingers
Effleurage
A kneading movement performed by lifting squeezing and pressing the tissue with light firm pressure
Petrissage
A deep rubbing movement in which you apply pressure on the skin with your fingers or Palm while moving it over an underlying structure
Friction
Percussion, short quick tapping slapping and hacking movements
Tapotement
Rapid shaking of the body part while the balls of the fingertips are pressed firmly on the point of application
