Skin Flashcards
Stratum Basale
deepest layer of epidermis, consists of a single layer of mitotically active, cuboidal to low columnar shaped cells.
Stratum Spinosum
thickest layer of epidermis composed of polyhedral to flattened cells.
Stratum Granulosum
3 to 5 layers of flattened keratinocytes, most superficial layer of epidermis in which cells possess nuclei.
Stratum Lucidum
clear, homogenous, thin layer of cells, present only in thick skin.
Stratum Corneum
most superficial layer of skin composed of numerous layers of flattened, fully keratinised cells.
Epidermis
