Uses- moderate to severe acne

DC once lesions clear, and continue maintenance therapy like retinoids/benzoyl peroxide

Uses- acne, rosacea
MOA- antibiotic activity against c. Acne, inhibit protein synthesis, antiinflammatory
Can cause lightening to skin

ADE- mild, transient itching, burning, stinging, tingling
Benzoyl peroxide
Uses- acne 1st line for mild to moderate
MOA- bacterialcidal for c. Acnes, reduced inflammation, comedolytic activity

ADE- dry skin, irritation, bleaching of cloth, contact dermatitis
Dapsone (aczone)
Uses- acne
MOA- anti inflammatory, anti bacterial, interfere with neutrophilic function and tumor necrosis factor alpha

Uses-acne
Class- Peptide antibiotic
Often used in combo with neomycin/polymyxin to prevent infection of wounds

MOA- interferes with bacterial protein synthesis: gram - bacteria, some gram +
Often in combo with bacitracin or polymyxin ointment
ADE- contact dermatitis, erythema, rash, itching, hives
