Skills, Strategies And Tactics Flashcards
what is an example of a strategy in basketball?
zonal defence and man to man
what are tactics?
Tactics are the methods or actions a team or player uses to achieve desired goal
- vary with circumstances and are more short term
what advanced skills do skilled athletes have?
- are not affected by environmental influences
- perform well under pressure
- execute simple skills perfectly on a regular basis
- execute complex skills to a high level when others falter
- make appropriate decisions about which skills to use
- time their movements; right place at the right time
What are the ten classifications of sports?
evasion, invasion, net/wall games, aesthetic sports, aquatics, combat sports, cycling, target sports, striking and fielding sports, athletics, extreme
example of net/wall and evasion sports??
evasion- AFL, netball
net/wall: tennis, volleyball
example of aesthetic and aquatic sports??
aesthetic: gymnastics, surfing, diving
aquatics: swimming, water polo
examples of combat sports and cycling?
combat sports; boxing
cycling; track or road racing
examples of target sports, and striking and fielding sports
striking; cricket and softball
target: golF And archery
examples of athletics and extreme??
athletics: track/ field
extreme: rock climbing and skateboarding
give set play example (maybe 100m backstroke)
- push off the wall, swim underwater for 15m holding a streamlined position and do hard powerful kicks
- build pace through the first 50m, have control as not to be fatigued on the return lap (very similar energy system for a 400m run)
- turn hard and explode off the wall
- sprint home
for invasion/ evasion games, describe how you would create space…
attack principles: creating space
formation: 4-4-2 in soccer
- allows for creating space as the wings are utilised
- the players can hold width, stay well forward or back
- defence is spread
this provides opportunities to switch angle of attack, as there are many spaces to attack through
for invasion/ evasion games, describe the defence principle of depth
(getting AS many players between the ball and goal to protect the goal)
formation: 5-3-2 or 5-4-1(better)
aim: to limit the amount of space between the opposition can move through
- good for defenders to spread bc defenders in a line is easy to pass
What is a strategy?
a long term view of a team and its overall plan
- look at big picture, normally prepared before a game
- AKA ‘pre game plan’
what are the steps of designing a training program??
1) purpose of the program- fitness maintenance or improvement?
2) requirements- participation, tactical, technical, fitness, psychological
3) gathering baseline data- selecting tests to complete, evaluation of previous performances
4) selecting methods of training- continuous, interval, circuit, farklet, resistance (weight training)
5) planning- length of sessions, number of sessioins
6) applying principles of training- intensity, duration, frequency, progressive overload, de-training(reversibility)
7) design of individual training sessions- teaching skills/ styles
8) monitoring- observation, schedules and analysis tools
