• Database such as met office
• Vast amounts of information allowing detailed analysis of weather patterns
• Allows prediction and comparison between areas
• Beneficial for river studies and basis of fieldwork
• Can prevent and warn of natural disaster - eg. Flooding

Outline one strength and two weaknesses associated with a dot map for displaying data. (3)

Answer 2

STRENGTH - good overview of distribution, better than chloroplasts which assumes uniform density across large areas, figures can often be calculated from it
WEAKNESSES - dots can merge making it difficult to see, some areas aren’t represented because they are less than the value of a dot, lower scale however makes it more difficult to read
