Explain what Attending includes.
A
- Physical (squaring, open, lean, eye contact, relaxed)
- Psychological attending (observations of members readiness and involvement–verbal and non-verbal)
- Emotional (expressed emotions, particularly non-verbal)

A
- Verbal communication to express the rules, directions, expectations, goals, and activities of the group.

A
- Encouraging member participation
- Remember in individual therapy the therapist is the primary therapeutic force while in group therapy the therapeutic potential lies within the group members.

Explain what Modeling includes.
A
- Demonstrating through your own behavior (verbal & non-verbal) what you want the members to do.
- It is crucial that your behavior be congruent with your expectations for the group members

A
- Refers to the emotional and attitudinal atmosphere created and managed by the leader
- How the leader introduces the members to the group formal first sets the tine for the group.
