Skills Lab Flashcards
PQRST
Provoked, quality, region, severity, timing
When taking radial pulse count breaths for?
30 seconds and multiply by 2 if normal, if irregular count respirations for min
Deep and gasping respirations
Kussmal
Period of slow and deep or rapid and shallow followed by apnea
Biots
Increase in rate and depth and decrease and followed by periods of apnea
Cheyne Stokes
Gait belt
Through teeth and down throat
Correlates with volume of blood being ejected against arterial walls with each contraction
Pulse
Tricuspid and mitral valves close at end of ventricular filling
S1
Tricuspid and mitral valves close at end of ventricular filling
S1
Pulmonic and aortic values close at end of systolic contraction
S2
When taking blood pressure
Arm at heart level, palm faced up,30mm above patients normal BP
Occurs when ventricles of heart contract forcing blood into aorta
Systolic
Occurs when ventricles relax and minimal pressure is exerted against vessel walls
Diastolic
Normal blood pressure range
120/80 or anything above 90 systolic & above 60 diastolic
When bp drops more than 20 or pulse increases by 20/min when client moves from laying to sitting to standing
Orthostatic hypotension
