discrete - clear beginning and end eg catching a ball in rounders
serial - discrete elements put together in a definite order eg triple jump
continuous - no definite beginning and end eg running
organisation
low - sub-routines that are easily separated eg swimming strokes
high - sub-routines close linked and hard to separate eg handstand
