Landmarks for NT
Mid clavicula
2nd intercostal space
roll superior 3rd rib on insertion
Procedure for NT
Locate landmark
clean
connect 10 ml syringe to ARS syringe
insert needle at 90 degrees
while inserting aspirate
resistance is felt until it enters the pleural space
remove needle leave cannula insitu
rpt on opposite side
re evaluate chest
rpt laterally if re-tensions
Quik clot contras
sucking chest wounds
eye or airway injury
exposed organs
Quik clot procedure
expose and identify source of bleeding
apply direct pressure
pack quikclot directly into the wound at the bleeding source
firmly pack
apply consistent pressure for 3 minutes
reassess and once ceased apply pressure bandage
Do Not remove if bleeding ceased
if bleeding continues and dressing soaked through- remove and apply fresh pack

proximal 1/3 and mid shaft femur fractures

attach ankle strap
end cap lateral and facing up
attach groin strap
female buckle on anterior thigh
apply coarse traction
extending the distal pole, insert to ankle strap, extend until resistance felt
apply fine traction
open red clamp and pull traction cord, close red clamp
