What is a Skill?
A learned action or behaviour, with the intention of bringing about a pre-determined result, with maximum certainty and minimum outlay of time and energy.
What is an Ability?
An inherited, stable trait that determines an individuals potential to learn or acquire a skill.
What is the difference between a Skill and an Ability?
A Skill can be learnt and developed.
An Ability is inherited and innate.
What is a Fundamental Motor Skill?
A Fundamental Motor Skill is the building blocks for a skill.
Example of a Fundamental Motor Skill?
Throwing, Catching, Running, Hopping, Skipping
What is a Gross Motor Ability?
Innate characteristics for performing large muscle movements.
Between what ages are Gross Motor Skills developed?
Between 3 and 5 years old
What is a Psycho Motor Ability?
Processing information related to movement, putting decisions into action
What is a Perceptual Activity?
Ability to sense and interpret information
