the spool shaped, lower portion of a vertebra, upon which the spinal chord and neural arch rest
Pectoral Girdle
Attaches to forelimb. Two main components: Scapula and coracoid
Scapula
Part of pectoral girdle. Shoulder blade. Flat surface, lots of muscles attached
Coracoid
has socket where arm bone is attached
Pelvic Girdle
Attaches to hind limbs. Made up of ilium, pubis, ischium, and acetabulum.
Ilium
Upper pelvic girdle bone, fused to sacrum
Pubis
Down and forward, always in front of ischium
Ischium
Down and back
Acetabulum
Socket of the hipbone, where the ilium, pubis, and ischium meet.
Humerus
Upper Arm Bone
