Skeletal System Flashcards
Skeletal System Function
- Support = internal scaffold
- Locomotion = attachment for muscles to bring about movement
- Protection = protects soft parts of body e.g. brain
- Storage = stores calcium and phosphate (essential minerals)
- Haemopoeisis = formation of blood cells in the bone marrow (red and white)

The Skeleton
There are 3 parts:
- Axial = skull, vertebrae, ribs, sternum
