5 functions of the skeleton
- provides shape and support
- enables movement
- protects internal organs
- produces blood cells
- stores materials like calcium and phosphorous for the bones and the rest of the body
Types of tissue and their function- Ligaments
Connects one bone to another. Protects joints from damage by limiting certain types of movement
Tendon
Strong cords of fibrous tissue that attach muscles to bone. Allows movement and transportation force between muscle and bones.
Muscle- function only
To produce force and motion. They also produce mobility, circulation, respiration, digestion, urination, vision and posture.
Bone- function only-
The function of bones is for structural support, both for the body structure and the protection cancellous bones which contain marrow.
