Diaphysis:
Shaft of a long bone (compact bone)
Epiphysis:
End of long bong (hollowshaft)
Periosteum:
Strong fiborous membrane covering the shaft of a long bone
Osteoporosis:
New bone creation doesn’t keep up with old bone removal
Frontal bone (frontal sinus)
Forms the forehead
Parietal bones
Top and sides of skull
Temporal bones: (mastoid sinus)
Part of sides and part of the base of skull.
Occipital bone (foramen magnum)
Back of the bone and base
Fibrous joints:
- Held together by fibrous conectivo tissue
- found in the sutures of the skull
- immovable or synathrosis
Cartilaginous:
- Connected by cartilage
- found between public bones in the pelvis and between vertebrae
-Amphiarthrosis : slightly moveable
Synovial joints:
Cavity filled with synovial fluid.
Freely moveable
Axial:
Bones of skull, vertebral column, and thorax
Appendicular
Forms the framework for extremities, shoulders, and hips
Circumduction:
Moving arm in circular motion
