Contain bone marrow
spongy at ends, shaft (hollow with strong outer layer)
Describe and examples flat bones

complex shapes
vertebrae
pelvis
some skull
short bones describe and examples
small and boxy
wrists
ankles
Sesamoid - describe and examples
Small flat, like sesame seed
form inside tendons
patella but also up to 26 other locations where joint bears weight loading
Whats important about bone composition
salts and collagen fibres plus water
salt relates to water meridian
Where is bone marrow
in centre of shaft of long bone and in spongy bone layers of flat bone
Where is red blood cells made in western and eastern medicine
Western made in bone marrow
Eastern made in small intestine then goes to bone marrow
What are the types of bone marrow
Red (all when young)
Yellow (becomes when older - can change to red in emergency)
How do we build strength in bone
movement and loading
True or false
bone is full of blood vessels
true
How is yoga good for bones
yoga loads weight from different directions to deposit layers of calcium into bone cavity
