Skeletal, Muscular, Respiratory And Neuromuscular Responses To Exercise Flashcards
What’s the job of osteoclasts and osteoblasts?
Osteoblasts- build bone
Osteoclasts- clear away old bone
What’s synovial fluid?
Keeps joints viscous and helps smooth moment
What is cardiac output?
Amount of blood pumped per minute
What’s vasodilation and vasoconstriction?
Vasoconstriction- closing of blood vessels
Vasodilation- blood vessels open
What are micro tears?
Small tears caused during exercise, increases strength and size of muscles
Why do we get hot during exercise?
More intense exercise means more heat produced and more blood is pumped to working muscles
What is tidal volume?
Air breathed in and out in one breath
What is minute ventilation?
Tidal volume x breathing rate
What does the oxygen dissociation curve measure?
The partial pressure and oxygen saturation
What is stroke volume?
Amount of blood pumped by left ventricle per beat
What is cardiac output?
Amount of blood pumped per minute
What controls the heart rate?
Sinoarterial node
What is starlings law?
When stroke volume increases due to more blood filling the heart
What is a-vo2 diff?
The difference between arterial and venous blood, when exercising more o2 is needed from arterial blood
What’s isometric, Isokinetic and isotonic contraction?
Isometric- muscle tenses but no change
Isokinetic- muscle contracts to its maximum
Isotonic- muscle shortens
