Obliquely 0.3 -0.5 inch towards the interspace of the metacarpal bones

- Disperses upper jiao heat and benefits the ears
- Calms the spirit

SJ 3 Location
When the fist is clenched, the point is on the dorsum of the hand between the fourth and fifth metacarpal bones, in the depression proximal to the fourth metacarpophalangeal joint

Perpendicularly 0.3 - 0.5 inch

- Clears heat

- Clears the head and eyes

Ear pressure equalization
Use with Du 20 for depression
Any etiology of the ear (wind issues – wood point)

On the transverse crease of the dorsum of the wrist, in the depression lateral to the tendon of m. extensor digitorum communis

Perpendicularly 0.3 -0.5 inch

- Relaxes the sinews and alleviates pain
- Clears heat

Local carpal tunnel
Regulates Chong and Ren without gyno indications
Regulates ST with ST 42
Regulates fluid transformation with UB 64
Transmits Yuan Qi on the Yuan point

Luo-Connecting Point Confluent point of the Yang Linking vessel
SJ 5 Location
2 cun proximal to the dorsal crease of the wrist, on the line connecting SJ4 and the tip of the olecranon
SJ 5 Needling
Perpendicularly 0.5 - 1.0 inch
SJ 5 Actions
- Expels wind and releases the exterior
- Benefits the head and ears
- Opens the Yang Linking vessel
- Clears heat
- Activates the channel and alleviates pain
SJ 5 Cautions
Movement of the patient’s arm or hand after needling this point can result in a bent needle
SJ 5 Indications
Cold and Flu point (especially with wind heat)
Links all yang vessels and Du mai
SJ 2 indication
Local and and wrist pain
Clears heat from the heart and spirit
