What type of poising can lead to neurological issues and hydrocephalus?
Lead poisoning
Red reflex in a six week old is checking what? What can cause an abnormal result?
The integrity of the visual axis is being checked as the light should directly reflect off the fundus.
- Congenital Cataract
- Retinoblastoma
- Exotropia and esotropia
If a red reflex comes back abnormal how should this be managed?
As an emergency situation with immediate urgent refferal
What can cause an infant to have one undescended testes
- Intra-abdominally stuck
- Congenital Absence
- Atrophy
- Retractile
- Cryptorchadism
What are these and what do you do about them?
Those are Mongolian spots, which are normal in darker skinned babies. These are non-cancerous and should regress before adolescence without treatment.
