The method of ethical decision making that focuses on what is the most loving thing to do

State the four presuppositions /working principles
Pragmatism-morality is about facts/actions/what maximises love
Relativism- morality is relative to the situation
Positivism-‘we should love one another because love is from God
Persinalism-people come before laws

Explain love is always good
-love is the only thing that is intrinsically good
-whatever is loving is right

-love replaces the law
-Jesus goes against the Torah laws with the laws of love
-laws restrict morality

-love becomes justice >caring for all
-calculation based on agape

State the Strengths of fletchers situation ethics
-promotes social justice [forces people to analyse it in terms of desired end]
-based on Christian ethical approaches [Jesus acted situationally not legalistically]
-fletcher presuppositions seem to be good ones
-focuses on helping people [even legalists have moved away from the letter of the law towards agapeic law
