it is the inflammation of the paranasal sinuses
usually the sinuses are sterile

A
Nasal obstruction
recent local infection
swimming/diving
smoking

presentation of Sinusitis
A
facial pain
typically frontal pain worse on moving forward
nasal discharge - thick and purulent
nasal obstruction “mouth breathing”
post nasal drip

treating acute Sinusitis
A
analgesia
intranasal decogestants (b5a5)
oral Abx are not usually give unless severe, amoxicillin is 1st line

treating chronic Sinusitis
A
intranasal corticosteroids are often beneficial
referral to ENT may be appropriate
