For sin to be mortal all 3 conditions must be realized:

Grave matter-What was done?
Full knowledge-Why did the person commit the act?
Full consent-What were the possible factors that
influenced him/her to do the act?
“excusable sins”, gradually leads
to mortal sin if not confessed right away
