Grace is favor, the free and undeserved help that God gives us
CCC 1996:
Grace is a participation in the life of God
CCC 1997:
received in baptism, enables us to live with God and act by His love
Sanctifying grace
gifts proper to the different sacraments
Sacramental graces
extraordinary gifts intended for the good of the Church
Special graces or charisms
this grace refers to the blessings we receive everyday
Actual grace
is a good habit, an inner readiness to accomplish moral good
Virtue
freely given from God
Theological virtues
needed human effort to be developed
Cardinal virtues
An important role in the decision making process because a person considers them when she/he makes choices.
Values
Man needs to satisfy his physiological needs,
Biological values
Man to satisfy his need to belong and live a meaningful life as member of the society
Social values
Man to satisfy his psychological needs as he finds fulfillment in the use of his intellect and in the exercise of his free will
Rational values
Are intrinsically good values that influence man’s inclination to do the right things
These include the values of discipline, responsibility, respect, honesty and faith
Ethical values
Are desirable values that have nothing to do with doing the right things.
These include wealth, creativity, resourcefulness, cheerfulness, agility, adventurousness, confidence, punctuality, beauty and dexterity
