Simplex Flashcards
1
Q
Don’t lack with the constraints! If n = 5e what does this mean in words!
A
For every e you get 5 N! Not for every n 5 e, for every e 5 !
Always test a value first to confirm easy mark
2
Q
Why would they put a constraint as less than equal to instead of = to when it MUST = TO NUMBER ANYWAYS!
IMPORTSNT :
A
- maximising, so this ensures anyways at the end it will equal the number in the first place so that’s not a problem
- by doing less than equal to, avoid introducing a more than equal to constrain, which means 2 stage simplex is needed, which is effort + long
3
Q
Why can’t a simplex algorithm work for something
A
Instead of just saying nkt standard form say how aswell
So = the origin is not part of the feasible region!
4
Q
What is STANDARD FORM STRICTLY and what is AUGMENTED FORM?
A
Standard form is all variables on the left
Augmented form is when no more inequalities (besides the non negativity ), so make it slack surplus artifical
