Simple Organs Flashcards
What are membranes?
Membranes consist of 2 tissue types, (Epithelia connected to CT)
Membrane Types?
Mucous Membrane (Mucosa)
Serous Membrane (Serosa)
Synovial Membrane
Cutaneous Membrane
What are Mucous Membrane characteristics?
Lines cavities that open to body exterior.
2 layers
- Epithelia varies
- CT is loose areolar called Lamina Propria
What are serous membrane characteristics?
Lines cavities that are not open to body interior
Covers exterior of organs
Double membrane - Often simple squamous and Areolar CT - Parietal Layer = Against cavity wall - Visceral Layer = Against organ - Serous fluid between layers
What are cutaneous membrane characteristics?
Skin.
Stratified squamous and CT is areolar and dense irregular.
What are synovial membrane characteristics?
Located in joint.
Only has one tissue, Areolar CT (No epithelia)
What are the names of double membranes in the heart, lung, and abdominal organs?
Heart = Pericardium
Lung = Pleura
Abdominal Organs = Peritoneum
