Signals cards Flashcards

1
Q

What is the objective of the ABS system and how are the station limits defined?

A
  • Prevents more than one train being in a signle track section at a time. This is done with track circuiting, when a fixed signal is passed it will go to stop until the train clears that track section.
  • Prevents opposing trains running in opposite directions on a bi-directional single line section at the same time.

Station limit is from Arriving home to the automatic signal in advance of the Departing home, in the case of where there is no departing home it is the automatic signal in advance of the Arriving home.
