sides and angles Flashcards
Define scalene sides:
Scalene sides are when the sides are different/no sides are congruent
Define isosceles sides:
Isosceles sides are when there are two or more congruent sides
How do you classify triangles with acute angles?
Angles less than 90 degrees
How do you classify triangles with right angles?
Angles that are exactly 90 degrees/one right angle
What are equilateral sides?
Equilateral sides are when they’re equal on each side/all sides are congruent
What are equiangular angles?
Equiangular angles are when all angles are the same/all congruent angles
How do you classify triangles with obtuse angles?
One obtuse angle
Describe the anatomy of an isosceles triangle:
- The vertex will be on the very tip of the triangle
- There is one leg on each side (congruent sides)
- The base is located on the bottom of the triangle (and base angles are located in the corners of the base)
What happens when you bisect the vertex angle of an isosceles triangle?
The triangle bisector is perpendicular to the base and it’s midpoint
True or false; base angles of an isosceles triangle are congruent?
True because when you have an isosceles triangle, there are at least two or more congruent sides
