-risk for HTN crisis (sign is headache)
-increased suicidal thoughts
Atypical antidepressants
-sedation
-ortho hypotension
-insomnia
-headache
-weight loss
Bipolar meds
-leukopenia
-ineffectiveness of oral contraceptive
-thromboctyopenia
-liver toxicity
Lithium
-toxicity level over 1.5
-bad kidneys
-decreased fluids
-hyponatremia
Antiplatelets
-BLEEDING
-check Hgb (<7 is bad)
-check platelets (<50,000 is bad)
-tinnitus/hyperventilation = aspirin toxicity
Anti coagulants
-BLEEDING
-Heparin-check PTT (46-70 is good)
-Warfarin-check INR (2-3 is good)
-avoid antibiotics (increase in INR)
-heparin induced thrombocytopenia!!!!
Thrombolytics
-BLEEDING
-Liver damage (CHANT)
-cirrhosis
-hepatits
-alcohol
-NSAIDs (avoid)
-tylenol (avoid)
Digoxin
-decreased HR
-digoxin toxicity (>2)
-vision changes
-nausea
-dizziness
-high risk in weak kidneys and low potassium (old people)
Aminoglycosides
-thrombophlebitus
-prolonged QT intervals
-red man syndrome (d/t fast infusion)
-hypotension
-rash
-flushing face
-nephrotoxicity
-vertigo
-tinnitus
-creatinine >1.3
-BUN >20
-low urine output
Steroids
-Swelling (water gain/weight gain)
-Sepsis (lowers WBCs)
-Hyperglycemia (increase insulin)
-Risk for fractures (osteoporosis)
-Risk for cataracts
