Sialolithiasis (salivary gland stones)
A
- Present with intermittent pain and swelling associated with meals
- May develop infection
- Management:
- Non-operative
- Hydration
- Sialogogues
- Analgesia
- Antibiotics
- Sialendoscopy if required
- Operative
- Incision over duct to remove stone
- Gland removal
- Non-operative

Sialadenitis (infection and inflammation of the salivary glands)
A
- Swelling of gland +/- pain +/- systemic upset
- Can be viral or bacterial
- Management usually supportive with rehydration, sialogogues and antibiotics
