Airway
A
- Hx - type, time, pain, dysphagia, breathing
- Examination - tongue base, tonsils, neck
- Investigation - lateral neck XR, CXR?
- Assess airway risk
- If trying to remove have ‘one good try’
- Good restraint
- Good light
- Good instrument
- If fails GA?
- Button batteries ASAP

Ears
A
- More common in school aged children
- Do not attempt to remove unless have appropriate skill and equiptment
- Button batteries need removed ASAP
- Insects should be drowned (spirit drops/olive oil)
- Inspect EAC and TM post removal
- Methods include:
- Syringing
- Suctioning
- Fine hook
- Uncomplicated perforations usually heal in 6 weeks and do not require review
